It's Official


On January 1st, I applied for an internship with HEAL Ministries.

For 3 months now I have been trying to talk with Tina, the Founder and Director of Missions of the organization. 

Today, I finally got to talk to her. 

And today, I was accepted as an intern for HEAL Ministries for a year when I graduate!

Pure joy. God is so good. I'm so excited to be able to go and use the gifts that God has blessed me with. I know it won't always be easy. And there are those times when the fear slips in. Am I good enough? Will I be able to do this? How will I afford it? But then I remember that God would never have called me for this if I couldn't handle it. And God always provides. So I need not worry. I just need to pray and to continue following God's calling for me.

I am so grateful to Tina and all of the people at HEAL who have allowed me to become a party of their team. I am looking forward to being able to share the love of Christ with others. I know God has good things in store and I can't wait to discover them!

So I was asked to write a bit about what it's like here. I was asked some questions and have done my best to answer them.  I was asked: is it hot?  Here's a screenshot of my weather app as of when I started writing this blog. It's been consistently around 80 every day and mid to upper 60's at night. If you're directly in the sun, it's very, very hot. Luckily, there is a lot of shade on our property and I find myself sticking to the shade when I can. I miss fall. The Last 4 Months

It’s been a long time since I last wrote. I’ve thought about writing a lot of times, but something always stopped me. I think I felt that I couldn’t write about a lot of things that were going on. My parents got divorced in February. This is something that rocked my world and flipped it upside down. I’m 25 years old but I think it’s even worse now than it would have been when I was younger. How could two people who love each other, who raised me together happily my entire life, suddenly no longer want to be together? I have always wanted to get married. I believe that somewhere, God is preparing a man who will be my husband and I will be his wife. But then when I look at my parents, it makes me question if it is worth it. And I hate that. I know marriage isn’t easy. I’ve witnessed enough of them fall apart to know. And statistics show us that about a third of every marriage in the United States ends in divorce. "Finally Home"

I was sitting poolside at The Haven when the song "Finally Home" by MercyMe came on with the rain pouring down around me. The first line of the song was talking about wrapping your arms around your Father's neck. My initial thought was that when I come home, I am going to get to hug my Dad for the first time in a year. I'll also get to hug the rest of my family and my friends when I get to see them again. And then the song continued. And I realized that it was talking of going home to our Heavenly Father.  By the pool next to the Nile  As the song continued, I thought about what home meant to me.
